Kali

/[ka.li]/n.

Origin

Named after Kali Linux, the security and penetration testing standard named after the Hindu deity representing transformation. In Synedre, it specifically denotes the ephemeral, hardened container used for fleet reconnaissance.

Definition

The ephemeral, containerized defensive security auditing environment of Synedre, orchestrated by Mitnick via ac_kali.py. Spun up on-demand as throwaway Docker containers (synedre-kali:recon) without root privileges or kernel capabilities (cap-drop=ALL), it runs non-intrusive reconnaissance (nuclei, nmap, whatweb, testssl) across fleet targets and records findings into sy_pentest_finding before terminating. Intrusive passes are strictly disabled by default and require manual verification.

Example

During scheduled pentest audits, an ephemeral Kali container is launched to inspect SSL/TLS cipher suites and HTTP security headers across client production domains, logging findings before being cleanly destroyed.
