Build Oven

/[fuʁ]/n.

Origin

Craft and industrial metaphor: the enclosed, heated space where raw dough (source code and node_modules) is baked into consumable bread (the standalone .output bundle). Refuses abstract cloud jargon in favor of physical, tangible engineering.

Definition

The remote build instance dedicated to heavy Nuxt and Node.js compilation offloaded from developer machines and from the Mothership. The Oven absorbs CPU and RAM spikes during production bundle creation, protecting the fleet from thrashing. Operating under a multi-slot concurrency semaphore (max 2 parallel builds) on M1 with strict per-tenant serialization and lowered CPU priority (nice -n 10), it bakes standalone .output artifacts before shipping them to production.

Example

When compiling multiple sites concurrently, the Oven allocates slots dynamically, preventing memory exhaustion while ensuring fast, reproducible artifact delivery without relying on third-party CI/CD runners.
